GHS BBQ went to their first competition at Jordanton High School for the Regional HSBBQ cookoff this past weekend. All three teams qualified for state to be held later in the school year. Teams placed 2nd, 4th, and 10th overall. The 2nd place team (4 HAWGS) all received $2,000 scholarships to Escoffier Culinary School as well as other prizes. Our teams were awarded with ELEVEN top 10 finishes, including 1st place dessert, 1st place chicken, 1st place ribs, and 2nd place ribs. Please congratulate them when you see them. Their next competition is December 13th- 14th in Van Vleck. The Giddings High School Computer Science 3 class consisting of George Baz, Braden Meuth, Kooper Bloodworth, and Juan Puente explored the Austin Google office yesterday. They learned about the journey to becoming a Software Engineer at Google, with a focus on the importance of internships, practicing coding skills, problem-solving approaches, and teamwork in the tech industry. Key takeaways included researching companies, and understanding how industry work emphasizes collaboration and solution reuse compared to the independence of college projects.

On Wednesday, Kyler Giles, Keaton Bradford, Alex Luna, and Kaden Kasper competed in Rockdale at the Tiger Tough Build Off. They walked away with 1st place! This qualifies them for the State Competition in April. Please congratulate them if and when you see them. They worked hard to get back to State.

On Wednesday, November 13, GHS Career Technology Education department partnered with the Giddings Chamber of Commerce and local Texas Workforce Solutions to organized a "Reverse Career Fair Day" for students. Students got out of the classroom and visited a variety of businesses in our local community including, Kaemark Salon Furnishings , Bluebonnet Electric, Lee County EMS, ATDS Truck Driving School, and the Texas Department of Agriculture State Seed Lab. During student's time at each business they were given amazing insight of the day to day operations for each business. Students were guided through interactive tours of each business with opportunities to ask questions. GHS CTE department and administration are greatly appreciative to these 5 businesses for opening up their doors to our students and giving them a glimpse of everyday workforce in Giddings.

The Giddings HS UIL Debate team competed at Edna High School on Saturday, November 9. Dylan deShetler placed 3rd in Lincoln Douglas debate and the CX debate team of Francisco Valle and Aiden Hankins placed 2nd.

GHS Student Council is honoring veterans by working with Wreaths Across America to provide wreaths for our veterans this Christmas. GHS Student Council is hosting a *Merry Christmas Mile* on December 6th at 8 pm . The fee is $20 but it supports STUCO and you get a long sleeve shirt! Members of the GHS Beta Club volunteered at the Relay for Life of Lee County past Saturday. Some of the duties included delivering meals to Survivors and their guests, helping set up and take down for the event. Way to represent!!

This past Saturday, GHS Leo Club students participated in "Sight Night", collecting 48 pairs of eyeglasses and cases for people in need in the community. Way to go!

GISD will celebrate Red Ribbon week from Mon., Oct. 21 - Oct. 25 with the following dress up days. Go Buffs.

Attention Seniors & Senior Parents, Important information was distributed this week to seniors concerning graduation / cap & gown orders. Orders for Cap & gown, graduation announcements & other senior items will be taken on campus on Thursday October 17th from 12:00 – 2:00. Please make sure and take advantage of this on campus order day as some items are delivered at time of order. Congratulations to the Class of 2025 and Go Buffs!!

The GHS Theatre Club and GHS Leo's Club volunteered at National Night Out Tuesday at the Giddings Veteran's Park sponsoring the paint booth for the night. Great job!

Giddings FFA had a great outing last week at the Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo. We had multiple scholarships won as well as other awards. Abigail Snyder won Reserve Champion American Scramble Heifer and Champion Multimedia. Hagen Boullion won Reserve Champion Maine Anjou heifer in the Premium Show. Kinsley Gandy received 3rd in the multimedia contest. Eli Parks (8th grade) won Reserve Champion Red Brahman Heifer in the Scholarship Show. All other students worked hard and did well in their respective classes. Kallie Grimm attended the State Fair of Texas as well. She placed 3rd in her class with her market barrow. She also was awarded Certified Texas Bred award for her class. She will be selling her market barrow later this week.

Our Technical Theatre class have been hard at work building sets and props for this years GMS production of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. A giant teapot, rose bushes, flamingo golf clubs and flower headdress are just a few of the great pieces being built by our talented students.
